【The SDGs Global Human Resource Development Program kicked off with diverse university students!】

IGES’s new programme “the SDGs Global Human Resource Development Program that Connects Learning and Society through Environment Issues” kicked off with diverse university students across Japan. This programme is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan to foster youth leaders to achieve the SDGs.

International Forum for Sustainable Asia and Pacific” (ISAP 2024)

On 23rd July in Yokohama, the participants attended the IGES’s milestone event, “International Forum for Sustainable Asia and Pacific” (ISAP 2024), and learned about the international discussion on the SDGs and environmental issues.


On 24th July, the participants visited IGES Headquarter in Hayama, and engaged in the ice break to grasp the underlying principles of the SDGs, and team building to share ideas for possible outcomes of this programme.


A two-week field training will take place in coming September, visiting three SDGs model regions in the western Japan, Kamikatsu, Kitakyushu, and Minamata, to find the keys for success.

A total of 17 participants are selected through open application from the following universities and graduate schools, with considering the conditions and diversity of disciplines and nationalities: Akita University, Tohoku University, University of Tsukuba, Rikkyo University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Aoyama Gakuin University, Sophia University, Doshisha University, Kyoto University, Osaka Metropolitan University, Eikei University of Hiroshima, the University of Kitakyushu, and Nagasaki University.
