We are excited to announce that IGES will hold the 5th Kitakyushu SDGs Training Programme ON-SITE from 5 to 7 March, 2024.

This is a 3-day on-site programme for university and graduate students to see, listen, discuss, and think about how the renewable energy industry is revitalizing the economy and society in Kitakyushu City (Fukuoka Prefecture), which is a leading SDGs Future City in Japan. The participants will visit the Kitakyushu City’s Environment Museum, the hydrogen town in the Higashida district, the renewable energy facilities, and the offshore wind farm currently under construction in the Hibikinada district. The participants also will experience the unique facilitation methods to grasp the interconnectivity and essence of the SDGs. IGES is calling for 15 undergraduate and graduate students (regardless of nationality) who can participate in active discussions in English.

We welcome applications from students who have high interest in SDGs!!

Outline of the programme

Date: 5-7 March, 2024
Cities to visit: Kitakyushu City (Fukuoka Prefecture)
Language: English /Japanese with consecutive interpretation (Partial lectures and discussion will be held only in English)
Participants: max. 15 university students for free of charge (Free accommodation (3/4 in -7 out) is provided for 5 people who reside outside of Kitakyushu City.)
Eligibility for Free-of -Charge Participation:
University students (undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral) with any nationality (non-Japanese & Japanese) who are capable of the followings:

can speak English (Discussion will be held only in English) ;can come to Kitakyushu City on your own;
have high interest in the SDGs with focus on the environment in local context;
can submit the required application documents.
