[Event Report] The 4th Kitakyushu SDGs Training (6-10 March, 2023)

Day 2 (March 7th, 2023) @ Kitakyushu City Eco Town

We visited the Next-Generation Energy Park in the Kitakyushu Eco-Town Center, the first and largest eco-town in the country, and listened to an explanation by Ms. Yasuko Mine about Hibikinada Offshore Wind Farm Project that has started construction, and Green Energy Port Hibiki Project, which aims to become a hub port of wind power industry.

After the lecture, we visited the operating onshore wind farms along the Hibikinada coast.
The line of ten 1.5 MW offshore wind power generators is a signature scenery of Kitakyushu!

We also visit the public solar power plant, which collects construction funds from citizens, etc. with donations and bonds, and returns part of the profits to the citizens. The planned amount of funds was collected in a few days. The power of the citizens of Kitakyushu!

We visited Hokutaku Co., Ltd., which conducts maintenance of wind power generation facilities and human resource development, and heard about their activity by Mr. Yoshitaka Ito.
Real blades and the nacelle that houses the generator were impressive and so special!

We visited the new factory of Recycle Tech Corporation (Shinryo), which developed the innovative recycling technology for solar panels, anticipating future issues that solar panels, which reach their lifespan in about 30 years, will become a large amount of waste.
